~ Hunger with a smile ~
I spent some time volunteering on the "Jungle Camp" in Calais. For those that aren't aware of what this was, it was an unofficial camp for refugees and migrants. There had been camps in the area since the 90s with a few hundred people taking residence, however in 2015 there was a massive influx of arrivals due to the wars in the East, the camp became more established with numbers reportedly hitting 6000+. The conditions were awful due to a multitude of reasons although a large factor was the French government who took a stance of zero cooperation, coordination or quite frankly care which resulted in a lot of violence, deaths and sickness.
It took me a while to decide I would enter this into the Happiness contest. It's clearly not a happy time for those involved however this guy was very cheeky and had me giggling. His complaints of hunger were laced with a good sense of humour, messing with the volunteers by sneaking into the tent, each time pulling apart the entrance ropes with a big grin while they were trying to serve people food and keep the line in order, no easy task without this guy messing with you!
