Hello Steemers
I am currently visiting Australia at the moment, visiting the Central Coast which is two hours north of Sydney. Being a landscape artist I have brought my paints with me as I would like to paint some Australian landscapes and especially some gum trees.
Just down the road from where I am staying is Lake Macquarie which is a salt water lagoon. Yesterday I went for a walk with my camera to scope out the area for potential plein air (outdoor painting) spots and to get some photo reference for potential studio paintings that would most definitely feature some of the native trees.
Here are some of the photos I took yesterday, I have cropped and edited some of them to give myself an idea of some potential studio paintings. Already I have some ideas and in the next few days I will start drawing some compositions in my sketch book.
The lagoon is beautiful, I like the subtle sparkles in the water and the gums and sheoak trees growing along the bank. I could well use this photo for a painting but I will need to add something like a gum tree on the right side in the foreground to balance the composition.
I love the colours and texture on the bark of the gum trees and paperbarks, I may well do a painting of this view.
Looking south along the lake.
This is another view I would like to paint, again I would need to balance the composition with a tree or equivalent mass on the right side in the foreground.
Here I was playing around with my zoom lens.
Sheoak and paperbark trees.
Some local residents, there is an abundance of cockatoos in this area, they make some crazy noises but it sounds cool.
I love the sound of the birds in Australia.
I love these paperbark trees, I think this could be a potential painting right there.
The bark of these trees is literally like paper that has built up in layers.
The edge of the lagoon, there is a nice walk that goes along the bank and then into the bush.
Gum trees, they are so beautiful, I love them!
I hope you enjoyed my photos, I love uploading my reference photos to Steemit and at the same time it helps to give me ideas for compositions for potential paintings. Stay tuned for more art and photos coming soon.
