As my subject states, Durga Puja, which begins from the 15th of this months, called Maha Shasthi, will come full circle on the 19th. called Vijai Dashami.
Godess Durga, the spouse of Lord Shiva, lives in Kailash Parbat ... in the Himalayas. The earth is her dad's home where she comes once every year. She has two little girls - Lakshmi, herself's identity the godess of riches and Saraswati, the godess of Art and Culture, and two children, Ganesha the God of learning and Kartik the God of war.
It takes seven days for Godsess Durga to make a trip from Kailash to the earth, the initiation of the adventure day is known as the Mahalaya, the day when Pitri paksh, the underhanded period finishes and Matri paksh, the glad time frame starts. Incidently, Mahalaya was on the 8/ninth of this current month OCT 2018.
One must visit Kolkata amid this period to comprehend what merriments are about for a Bengali. Each street is decked up and one can feel the celebrations noticeable all around.
New garments are worn amid these, morning and night by the individuals who can manage the cost of it and it's a Christmas season for all.
