A few days ago I took the plunge and picked up a Lens Ball. I had been seeing the ad incessantly on my Instagram feed for a number of months and decided to give it a try. I have never bought anything before via an add on a social media site. I always due my research and will not drop any amount of money on the junky crap that usually appears on these feeds.
Have reading about the company and seeing that many people bought and used Lens Balls quite a bit I figured it was worth sending the money. The price of this product is not a huge investment. I paid $36 US plus shipping for it which worked out to be abut $50 CDN.
There are two sizes of the balls, and I went with the larger one since I have plans to use it with my SLR and not just an iPhone. These images are shot with my iPhone, and with a little editing I'm pretty happy with my initial few images I've tried with it.
The ball itself is pretty heavy and its made of polished crystal. I'm really afraid of dropping it or scratching up somehow, so we shall see how long I can to last. This style of type of image making is is very niche and won't work in every situation but its nice to a new or different option to get creative with.
I do have to admit, when I received the ball the packaging was very well done, the ball comes with a protective back as well.
If your interested in a new piece of creative tech for your photography needs then a cheap fun tool is this Lens Ball. I'm going to shoot a bunch more with it using different lenses and see what I can create, I'm also going to try it underwater jsut for fun. You never know what a fishes eye might look like!
Have a great creative Saturday everyone and thank for reading.
Scott
