Yesterday, I went to my appointment and my friend's teenage daughter greets me with an unexpected hug and brought me the most beautiful roses along with this balloon. I was absolutely thrilled. Her mother comes out to greet me and inspects the gift approvingly and said that she sent her daughter out to buy these for me while she was with a client.
It meant the world to me that she is teaching her children the importance of remembering others. Her daughter just got her first job at McDonalds, a driver's license, and a boyfriend. Many exciting things are happening in her life and she made time for me!
This morning, my son woke up giving me a birthday hug and this weekend, he suggested we celebrate by going to a movie that we could both enjoy (PG) because everything else is too scary for mom.
I realized that it is all the little things that mean so much and that as parents, we are teaching our kids important lessons by valuing others.
