This is one of my photos of an oystercatcher in flight off a beach in Tresco, Isles of Scilly. They're interesting birds, just look at that red eye. They usually nest in the reeds or grass at the top of the beach and go to great lengths to distract you from their eggs or young. I've see some pretend that they have a broken wing to make a distraction. Others will fly straight at you, with that orange beak and a shrill, piping call that sounds a bit like a fire alarm going off.
