Long Exposures at Daytime
Quick Preview:
I drove to Laomei beach yesterday on the news of good weather, hoping to get some shots at a familiar place. The beach, located near the most northern point of Taiwan, is famous for its mossy rocks that attract many visitors each year. When I got there, the place was already filled with photographers with their tripods set up.
Most people including myself, try to avoid standing on the moss-covered areas when we shoot, just as a way of preservation of the environment. Areas where growth has stopped can be seen along the shore.
I decided to use my 10-stop neutral density filter when I noticed the clouds began to dramatically fill the sky with patches of white. The sun was also rising at the same time, adding colour to the scene.
The exposure times ranged from 30 seconds to 3 minutes in the following photos.
Afterwards, I shot some nearby buildings and logs on the beach. Luckily the wind was blowing in a direction that favored the composition.
