Entrance to a Lost City
I was wandering around Lingjiao Waterfall the other day when I discovered these cave like dwellings. I think I may have discovered the entrance to the lost city of Atlantis. ... ...
Gotcha!
Thought you were in for a discovery of a lifetime? Actually the photo I took is part of a network of man-made caves built near Lingjiao Waterfall, as a sort of resting area for visitors to the falls. Behind me from where I took the photo, is the waterfall.
How I made this shot
When I saw the cave, I knew it would be awesome to create a scene in which the cave appears to glow with light from the inside, to create a sense of interest and mystery to the image. So I used a flashlight with an orange filter to achieve this.
I set my camera up on a tripod, framed the shot, then started the BULB exposure using countdown timer.
I then moved inside the cave, and stood behind a wall, so as not to appear in the final shot.
Once in position, I painted the inside of the cave with my flashlight, while also being careful to hide the flashlight from the sight of the camera.
After some post-processing in Lightroom, the result is the image above.
Location
Here's the location of the waterfall, the caves are easy to spot once you get there, you can't miss it! You can click on the map to open it up in Google Maps.
