Glacier National Park just south of the border between Canada and Montana is a remote wilderness. I have been working on a set of large scale panoramic images I am producing that combines multiple images covering the entire valley from the border all the way down into the Middle Fork Flathead River.
While shooting the many images for the panorama I was able to capture a number of interesting natural scenes, such as these following images.
In the image above, Lincoln Peak on the right and Stanton Peak in the middle glow in the evening sunset light as an early beam of alpenglow shines through the clouds and brilliantly illuminates both peaks, casting a scattered diffused light effect on the wind swept clouds.
The same with this image above of Cerulean Ridge, the wind blowing the clouds up and over the brightly lit ridges make it look like some sort of cosmic mountain fire happening.
And the ultimate is this image of Wolf Gun Mountain. With the multiple layers of clouds, almost lenticular in shape, stacked up by the wind as the sun evaporates the snow on top of the mountain and then that evaporated water is turned to cloud by the colder air above and then is blown by the wind into the shapes we see here.
Nature is intense!

I lensed these images at different times while exploring this awe-inspiring wilderness area for my ongoing project, "Where Eagles Fly".
About The Project
Where Eagles Fly - The American Wilderness Expedition is my personal mission to introduce people to these amazing locations that surround us. I am piloting a bush plane while exploring and filming throughout the remote back-country areas of North America to raise awareness of the 47% of the USA and 90% of Canada that remain unpopulated wilderness.
