Today we revisit June 2018 and the Great Yarmouth Air Show. It was an amazing event and unfortunately not one that has been repeated due to concerns around breeding birds (or similar).
Nothing gets me quite as excited as historic aircraft, especially the Lancaster Bomber. What an amazing machine.
Lancaster PA474 seen here is one of only two Lancaster aircraft which remain in airworthy condition. There were 7,377 built.
This specific aircraft was built on the production line at Vickers Armstrong Broughton factory which was located at Hawarden Airfield, Chester. The aircraft was completed on 31st May 1945 after the war in Europe had come to an end and was therefore prepared for use agains the Japanese as part of the Tiger Force It was never deployed as the war in the Far East also came to an end before she was ready.
