Belvedere Castle is located in the middle of Central Park, at around 79th Street, now strictly speaking its not a castle, but a folly, or fake castle or made to look like a castle, it was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in 1867–1869, in an architectural hybrid of Gothic and Romanesque styles

Even though it is a folly, I still love seeing it when I walk throughthe park, but have never been into see the exhibits as I mostly pass by it on early morning walks before work and well before it opens

Belvedere Castle was originally built as a shell with open doorway and window openings,The main tower was given a more medieval design, with a weather antenna on top, but during the castle's 1983 renovation, the tower was restored to a German style with a flag, a weather vane, and an anemometer on top. The two fanciful wooden pavilions deteriorated without painting and upkeep and were removed before 1900
