Date trees are common in Middle East region. It is exported all over the world for human consumption, because it is a rich source of iron— needed for healthy body. People suffering from anemia are advised by doctors to consume it for iron supplement to raise hemoglobin level. In Urdu language date is considered to be a heavenly fruit. There is a proverb in this language which says ‘Aasaman se tapke aur Khjoor pe Atake”. This means fallen from heaven and got stuck to date tree. It also has a metaphorical meaning—we pray to God for many things, some we receive some we don’t. God is generous, he gives everything we ask for. Things we don’t receive are stuck in date tree. Therefore making prayers under a date tree has a significance.
