Talking temperance with Ina
Any reader of my writings understands a simple fact. I am a flawed creature, if by 'flawed' you mean 'desirous to eat cheeseburgers'. Otherwise, I have room for improvement. In addition to being 'flawed', I am ravenous for reading- herein lies millions, taxed only by the labor of deciphering the language. To answer a modest hunger for meals within reason, I have the tutelage of Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa.
The plan is simple- study recipes, ingredients and prepare meals on a budget. Reading a recipe regularly would be leisure in terms of the brainpower heavylifting the day requests.
I enjoyed Amuleto's in Waltham, the other evening with friends. The establishment certainly enjoyed our patronage, including mine for the shrimp enchilada with Mexican rice and salsa verde. I missed out on the mole of 35 ingredients, but here instructions by Garten and her team, on how to craft my own enchiladas awaited. Could I beat that?

Bettering breakfast
And breakfast. With no slight to Jimmy Dean, I could automate breakfast much better with steps. I'd since fallen out of my way to decide on meals, for the sole reason that I skipped them. Omission doesn't help improve- unless of course, we're leaving out unwelcome behavior like starting the day incorrectly (without breakfast!)
Cooking, and more importantly, preparation has its upsides. I could mitigate spending, firstly. With film to finance, spending less cake on cheese would go a long way. Also, learning new skills improves your primary art too. I heard somewhere, some time ago that football athletes used ballet as a method to improve balance and coordination.
Ultimately, to cook for one important to you, and see their satisfaction or delight- wasn't this the best feeling? If not, this cooking plot could at least feed myself. And that's a start.
