Not a sight you want to see when you are on foot! Luckily I was in a car when I took this image but I wonder how many unfortunate animals (not to mention people) have seen a sight like this before disaster strikes.
Nairobi National Park in Kenya is one of my favourite places and it is right on the edge of the city. It is probably the only place in the world where you can see rhinos on the plain with skyscrapers in the background.
This young male and his three brothers had just woken up in the late afternoon and switched from lazy mode to hunting mode. Lazy mode is the lions natural default setting and most lions will happily sleep for 20 hours a day. When they wake up and start looking for something to eat they turn from sleepy kitties to deadly predators. You know that feeling of being afraid as the darkness comes? These guys are one of the reasons why ;-)
