I'm just starting to dive into photography and figured that I'd stop and take some images from the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia while heading home with the kids after taking them to the zoo.
We stopped every little bit at different turn outs so the kids could stretch their legs and I could take some pictures.
Keep in mind that these are all taken by someone who has neither any background in art nor photography, so someone with a good eye who knows how their camera works could probably get some amazing shots.
Anywise, enough yapping! Here are the images I managed to get before it got too dark to keep going. Note that we started near Roakoak and headed north, leaving the blue ridge not far after otter pond.
Here, we got out at the Roanoak River trail to take a look at the dam and go down to the river. This is from near the top of the trail.
At the bottom of the trail, on the river. The kids enjoyed climbing on the rocks next to the rapids.
A bit further north I thought this tree looked interesting.
The rest of the images are pretty much just views from different places to pull out as we continued north along the parkway.
Now that I've picked up a few manuals on photography and am tinkering with our camera, hopefully I'll be able to get some better shots on my next trip up that way.
If you have the chance to travel the parkway (especially if you like hiking or waterfalls), do so if you get the chance!
Next time I'll try to get some good images of various waterfalls along the northern end of the parkway as it is only about an hours drive from home for me.
If you like any of these images, feel free to use them for whatever you want!
