Hello Steemit community, hellow fello cyclists!
I come from the beautiful city of Hamburg, Germany and present to you my best friend on two wheels, now with a new wheelset I saved up for for months (H+Son Archetypes) and a new front Basket (Basil something in CHROME) that made it even more awesome.
I'm a daily rider through most of the year as long as there is no ice on the roads (which is starting now, hence why I can spend time on blogging) and have travelled thousands of miles on it over the past five years. It began its life as a 300€ online store singlespeed that I bought because I couldn't afford anything 'better' but I have since fallen in love with it. It's perfect for the city, quick and agile and handles paved roads as well as gravel. In fact it's quite surprising how versatile a 'fragile' road bike can be, apart from constantly patching tubes
(#?!~+*# people who smash glass bottles on the street) there's never anything wrong with it. Over the years I have saved tons of money because I can cycle everywhere instead of taking a car, plus the incredible advantage of actually seeexperience things along the way instead of just blazing past (not that I don't like blazing past the slow hordes every now and then).
Here is another picture of a recent urbex trip to an abandoned train yard, just one of the places hardly anyone takes their road bikes to.
And this is the kind of image you only see when you forced yourself into the saddle on a foggy, rainy day that turns out to be the most relaxing ride along empty cycling paths you ever had. This is Hamburg, colourful even on the darkest of days.
I hope you liked the post and the pictures, drop me a comment if you did!
