Those clouds look majestic and frightening at the same time, excellent work op.
Thank you, appreciate it. Honestly loved Sydney partially because for a Canadian it never dips below spring time weather :
Quick note: Circular Quay is the hub where you can reach a TON of cool stuff (including the zoo, the Opera House, and a really wonderful public garden) but it'll help avoid confusion to note that it's pronounced like "key" and not "quay" on your wanderings
Try and have lunch at the Park Hyatt.
Dress nicely and enjoy the perfect, unobstructed view of the Opera House.
glad to see the sides are clean....around 20 years ago I was on the same train and the view was spectacular-except next to the train tracks. People would just throw their trash out the window. Me and my friend didn't want to be the kinda a-holes, so we collected out trash in a bag and handed it ot the conductor. He looked at it confused and then tossed it out the window........
I loved taking the train. Slept really well, saved a nights accommodation costs and saw some great views when the sun came up. The lady on the train who made the beds and served us our food was so nice and friendly and clearly loved her job it really added to the experience.
Also if you are flying from DKK you have to account for the horrendous traffic getting there and leave up to 3 hours to get to airport from Bangkok.
But if you are short on time flying is the way to go. Or just fly one way and train the other.
Here in America we're really missing out with the lack of widely available and affordable train service -- especially given our stunning landscapes -- because all the train riding I did in Europe, Asia, and Morocco, I saw so much beauty along the way. One of the most vivid images was waking up in the morning on the overnight train from Tangier to Marrakesh, and seeing a boy dressed in wool herding sheep in the fields. Really one of the best ways to travel if you want to see scenery and people (besides the ferry; I love riding ferries).
That brings back nice memories! This was actually my favourite sleeper train experience so far. We had the set dinner and they set up an actual table for us at our seats. The beds were quite comfortable, though we got two stacked on top of each other, and I hadn't realized the top one didn't have a window, which felt a little like sleeping in an overhead bin! So as soon as I woke up in the morning, I popped down to my boyfriend's bunk to enjoy the beautiful views for the last few hours.
