I took this photo about 8 years ago in Kaikoura, New Zealand.
Kaikoura is a special place to me where I have spent a number of days on 2 separate occasions.
It's stunning visually with mountains bordering ocean, and is wonderful in terms of it's marine wildlife. This is due to a pelagic drop-off a short way out to sea, which causes an upswell of nutrients from the deep and helps supports a large ecosystem ultimately including whales, sharks and dolphins.
While Sea-lions bask on the rocks next to the beach, I enjoyed eating fresh sushi and reading books.
