I had a trip to the Cape Town Aquarium (https://www.aquarium.co.za/) recently - something I really should do more often, it's wonderful there! I took my big camera - here's a selection of photos from my visit .
Abalone:
There's a big problem with illegal commercial abalone harvesting in South Africa, and the police are frequently making busts of millions of rand worth of abalone from illegal traders. There are even abalone harvesting syndicates that operate like drug cartels :O
Shark eggs (these made for some great abstract B&W shots!):
Lionfish:
AKA Pterois, the lionfish has venomous spines that can cause a host of nasty effects so divers have to be very careful when swimming near them. In rare cases, being stung by a lionfish can even cause death. They're beautiful fish, though!
Octopus:
Shark:
They have a big diving tank there where you can swim with the fish and turtles;
It's a great place to visit. If you're ever visiting Cape Town, check it out. :)
