I love these 18 days in August when Vienna's Danube island morphes into an African village!
As a music lover I visit this festival every year and enjoy up to three different concerts a day. Yesterday was a special day because one of the greatest bass players in the world performed twice. This is not an exaggeration, this man really blows your mind when it comes to rhythms, sounds and melodies. I had the honour to assist him with taking photos and building his equipment. And there he is.
Vienna was boiling hot during the last month and yesterday, all of a sudden it seemed as if autumn arrived. It cooled down and I enjoyed the breeze coming from the danube while I took a look at all the different tents and their African handcraft.
After looking around and enjoying the atmosphere it was time to meet up with some friends from Iran. One of them is Hadi, he is one of 's very few bass students. He originally was a pilot in Iran but Austrian authorities did not accept his licence here, so he became a programmer and is working for a big enterprise now. A very smart and kind guy.
This young lady with the colourful headdress pepared some of the delicious African food. We had vegetables in peanut sauce served with rice.
The concert break was over and darkness arrived. It was time for the second and last concert of the night with Celia Mara. People were dancing, even on stage! I couldn't stop myself from taking photos, I guess you could say I was trigger happy with my GH4 Lumix Camera.
After a long day we packed the equipment happily and headed towards some more food to celebrate the end of a successful day. Life can be so beautiful. This little girl who meowed her way through the crowd additionally opened up my heart.
Thank you for enjoying another beautiful day with me! If you ever come to Vienna, I am happy to give you some advice of where to go!
And always dive a little deeper....
