I have never seen such an abundance of orange Satyrium orchids Satyrium coriifolium. This must be a post-fire phenomenon, but isn't it beautiful. These photos were taken last Sunday on the top of Red Hill above Simon's Town in the Cape Peninsula.
In the distance you can see False Bay and beyond that the Hottentots Holland Mountains.
They were also flowering in abundance on the other side of the road, amongst some Oxalis blooms.
