Today, we'll be visiting Las Vegas, Nevada with pictures I took in the year 2000. Las Vegas used to be one of my favorite places. But like a lot of other places, not so much anymore. I lived there off/on during the 1960s - 1970s when it had much more of a small-town vibe (Howard Hughes, gangsters, strippers, etc. :-)). Now, it's just another out-of-control city. Constant crowds, impossible to get around, etc. It was like this in 2000 as well. But I still managed to get a few pics in the limited time that I was there (a couple days).
First off, here we are at the Luxor Hotel & Casino (where I stayed during this visit). The Luxor is the cool black pyramid-shaped hotel on the strip. I had never stayed there before and this was the first and last time. In this first picture, we're in the casino which is inside the outer shell of hotel rooms (green lights in the picture). Yes, that's another little pyramid inside. As I recall, it had some kind of bar or cocktail lounge. But don't quote me on that. My memory is pathetic.
Next, we're looking outside the window from my room (note the slanted walls/windows, due to the pyramid shape). Looks like somebody had already shot out a few windows of the Mandalay Bay even back then!
Inside my room, just another boring hotel room (aside from the slanted wall/windows).
