Look, guys, I really enjoy make close shots of butterflies. But that little fellows are notoriously cautious of my big ugly shadow. Once been exhausted on fruitless pursuit I came to idea: why nobody use 360° camera for this?
It's pretty straightforward after all: use intelligent algorithm for tracking moving object in close circumference of such camera, and compose burst series of it.
It's certainly could be achieved with current technologies. They do throwable 360° after all! Serveball, Panono, to name a few.
And yes, finally we got it. Insta360 has announced a closest match to my dream – $399 worth One X.
Use case slightly different and performance not without quirks but it do tracks moving object and compose continuous video if it. While being hurled through the thin air.
It even do image stabilization and selfi-stick deleting for a bonus )
Hope you enjoy their commercial video as much as I do.
Now it remains to add hi-res zooming and we are ready for butterflies!
