Good afternoon Hive friends!
How is your Sunday going? Ready for a week of work?
This morning, and as is more or less usual, I had my "Cryptotoast" with my friends who live nearby and who share the same interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain.
Despite the weather not being clear, I ended up choosing not to travel by bicycle, since I have a presentation next Thursday, which I had already told you about before, and that I cannot run the risk of catching a cold in the meantime.
Even though I didn't exercise that day, just getting some air, and having interesting conversations with my friends (and not just about markets and crypto), turned out to be good exercise for my mental health. and emotional well-being.
There is a book that had already been referred to me by a friend, and that she had already given me in digital format, but that I, and as always, never read it, always procrastinating one and another week. But I set it as a goal, in our next meeting for a cryptocurrency to have already read it! Let's see if I can do it!
Another goal or objective that I had set out was to be more active on Hive, sharing with the community and friends a bit of my day-to-day life, as well as my taste for capturing moments and themes that come to mind during my walks and walks in the open air.
Today I share with you a set of photos taken in the city of "Vila do Conde" (located near the city of Porto, in the north of Portugal).
There was a street that particularly captivated my attention, and it was Rua de São Bento to Rua do Lidador. At the end of Rua de São Bento, the chapel of São Bento is located, as you would expect, but as we walk along the street, we are greeted by the beautiful tiles that still decorate some facades of old buildings, some of which have already been restored, which make cities from the north of the country something unique and beautiful.
One detail that really intrigued me was the presence of a mask, or a "face" carved into the shield and armor of one of the warriors represented in a sculpture at Capela dos Passos, located immediately next to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vila do Conde. Having spoken with a friend of mine, who lives in the region and who is a historian, and interested in local culture, he was unable to give me a valid explanation for the sculptor's "decision", referring that this work of art must not be very old, judge by its composition and details of the faces of the people represented.
Unfortunately, the famous tavern "A Badalhoca" was closed, so I'll have to come back here on a next visit, and I'll certainly be able to share with you the delights of a beautiful plate of bifanas (very typically prepared in the North fashion), and of course accompanied by the traditional glass of red wine!
Arriving at Largo dos Artistas, we are presented with a monument dedicated to the workers from Vila do Conde, who during the last century were important in the construction of the city. The three figures represented by the sculptor Manual Sousa Pereira, in human scale, include a carpenter, a mason and a trowel. The color of bronze is something I've always enjoyed capturing in photography. Its green tone and dark gray contrast very well in blue or cloudy skies!
I hope you liked my post, and that it waked up your interest in visiting the North of Portugal!
