Dolphins are on of the many marine animals seen off Florida's coasts. The bottle nose dolphin, is the stereotypical dolphin you would think of and the most common to Florida. Dolphins are very intelligent creatures, with a brains about as strong as an ape. Unfortunately, the intelligence of dolphins also makes them at risk. Large drive hunts are conducted in Japan to find dolphins and whales to kill or sell into captivity. Many of the dolphins captured are killed in in the process by physical injury or the shock of being transported. Other species of dolphin worldwide are becoming closer to extinction due to a large number of fishing supplies and debris present in the oceans. These endangered dolphins eat or get caught in the sea trash. The dolphin's largest predator is human race and we must do more to save them.
