Here is a macro I took of a weaved wooden surface. With the extreme 1:1 magnification of the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro lens on my Nikon D700, small fibers, dust, and grit can be seen. What is a smooth, uniform and clean-looking surface from a normal perspective becomes rough, dirty, and weathers under the macro perspective. Yet, the design and pattern is still very much apparent and (to my eye) still pleasing to stare at.
