Niagara is a large waterfall on the Niagara River that lies on the international border line between the US state of New York and the Canadian province of Ontario. The waterfall is about 17 miles (27 km) north-west of Buffalo, New York and 75 miles (120 km) southeast of Toronto, Ontario.
Niagara is the group name of three waterfalls. The three waterfalls are Horseshoe waterfalls (sometimes called Canadian waterfalls), American waterfalls, and the smaller Bridal Veil waterfalls separated by an island called Luna Island from the main waterfall.
Although not too high, Niagara is a waterfall that is very wide and most popular in the world. More than 6 million cubic feet (168,000 m3) of water per minute was dropped and this is the most powerful waterfall in North America.
