elephant butterfly (attacus atlas) is a large and widespread moth in the tropics and subtropics of southeast asia, commonly found in the archipelago. this is known as an atlas moth.
elephant butterflies are often considered the largest moths in the world, especially those associated with a wing surface area of up to 400cm. The wingspan is also one of the widest, up to more than 25cm (10inc). female moths are larger and heavier than males.
