There are places that make you feel like you stepped into a different world — somewhere far from the noise, the heat, and the busy streets. Katihan Eco Park in Kibalabag, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon is exactly that kind of place. We went there for a family day out and honestly, it was one of the best decisions we made.

We all piled into a vehicle together — bags, snacks, a baby, and big smiles all around. The ride to the park was already part of the fun. Everyone was excited, taking selfies and throwing peace signs even before we arrived. That is the thing about family trips — the journey matters just as much as the destination.
Kibalabag is a barangay in Malaybalay City, and once you start going up toward the eco park, the view outside already starts to change. The road gets cooler, the trees get thicker, and you start to feel that highland air that Bukidnon is known for.

One of the first things you will want to take a photo at is the rustic wooden pergola near the edge of the viewing area. It is made from thick logs and raw timber, with string lights hanging underneath. Behind it — nothing but mountains and sky. That is it. That view alone is worth the trip.
We took photos there and the backdrop was just stunning. Even on a cloudy day, the green mountains behind the pergola made every shot look incredible. I could only imagine how magical it looks when the string lights are on at night.

Yes, there is a pool — and it is not just any pool. It sits right on the hillside with the mountains directly behind it. From inside the water, all you see is green mountain slopes and clouds. No walls, no ugly concrete background. Just pure nature all around you.
The pool has a unique pointed or arrow shape when viewed from above, which makes it stand out from typical resort pools. The water was cold and clean, which made sense since the whole area sits up in the highlands. We all got in and honestly, it was refreshing in a way that only cold mountain water can be.We took a group photo at the edge of the pool with the mountain right behind us. Everyone was waving, smiling, soaking it all in. That photo will probably be one of our favorites for a long time.

For those who want to explore beyond the pool, there is a natural stream nearby. Big mossy boulders line the sides of the flowing water, ferns and wild plants grow all around, and the sound of water rushing over the rocks is incredibly calming.
Some of us went down to the stream to play. One even crouched right next to a small waterfall coming down between the rocks — cold water splashing everywhere, soaked hair, big laugh. That moment felt so free and so real. No filter needed.
The stream area feels completely untouched by development. It is the kind of spot that reminds you how beautiful the natural world already is without any improvements.

Katihan Eco Park is not a fancy resort. It does not have a big hotel or a commercial vibe. What it has is something better — wide open space, clean mountain air, a natural stream, a beautiful pool, and views that will genuinely take your breath away.
It is a perfect place for families, barkadas, or anyone who wants to escape the city for a day. Bring good company, pack your own food, wear clothes you do not mind getting wet, and just enjoy everything that the mountains of Bukidnon have to offer. We left tired but happy — and already talking about coming back.
