...to Nowhere in Particular! :0)
That was the theme of this most glorious sixty degree day! Also the song I sing the first few miles of every motorcycle trip.
Spring does a whole lot of stutter stepping in NY every April to May. One day we'll have this beauteous sunshine and relative warmth, the next it might be freezing rain or even snowing.
So when we get a day like today, we don't take it for granted! Put down the phones, shut down the computers, and slow down time a bit.
And it really does slow it down. That's the best way to put it. All of the sites and smells, the different stops, make a day feel like a Day. Instead of hours bleeding away, droning on one site or another, being outside makes you feel the moment.
Especially when you don't have a particular destination in mind.
Generally we will always stop at some spot by one of the lakes, today we chose Sheldrake point on Cayuga. If you've ever been on Rt 89, you can probably imagine it's a great road to take on a motorcycle. Especially as there are many smaller roads branching off that take you right down next to the lake.
First dandelion of the season
The back of the bike is definitely my happy place. I swear I can hear symphonies and angels singing, as if the wind itself is rejoicing in the beauty of the day!
On this jaunt when we left the lake, we decided to go check on the boys out in the vineyard- one of the last days of pulling grapevines of the season!
Ending a grape season is always bittersweet. On one hand it is hard work of the physical variety, and would be difficult to keep the pace up year round.
On the other, well there's something great about hard physical work in nature.
And last but certainly not least, we took a ride over to the location of my stepson's new venture...horse rescue. Haha, this boy cracks me up!
It all started with Mark here, a Clydesdale that was on his way to the glue factory. Billy, who is forever taking in strays, just couldn't let it happen, so he worked out a deal with his best friend Jeffy; cleared the old barn out...then learned about the horse auctions.
Now he has SEVEN of them. All except Mark were skin and bones when he picked them up, which you can see with a couple of his newest. Super sad that people can neglect animals this way.
He also picked up some ducks, chickens, and rabbits; and plans on a few goats next XD
You may think he is consciously prepping, getting together a little homestead. And considering he has also planted some fruit trees and is marking off a spot for a garden it would be a reasonable assumption
And this is why he cracks me up! He pays no attention whatsoever to what's happening outside of his small microcosm, is blissfully unaware of the dollar's downfall, but seems to have an instinct for these things.
I am not complaining! It's awesome to know that the kids will weather the coming storms just fine :0)
And that concludes my merry motorcycle post of the day!
Hope you enjoyed walking with me on this fine Wednesday, and be sure to check out 's #wednesdaywalk initiative to see what others are doing around the globe!
