Although, summer doesn't technically end until later this month in the Northern Hemisphere, in Toronto it officially ended on Monday September 3rd when the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) closed its gates for another year.
This past Sunday evening I took the opportunity to sneak in just before closing time as it was a perfect summer night off the shores of Lake Ontario. I was determined to pop off a few shots on my not so fancy Sony a37, a camera and lens which can be picked up nowadays for abut $250. Did I wish I had an a7III? Of course, but I wanted to rely on some good old fashioned shooting techniques. A camera that does not do well in low light forces you to think carefully about the exposure triangle.
These were also taken without the aid of a tripod which in this case may have been a good thing, though I highly recommend you use one when exposing with low shutter speeds.
I think someone needs to take their foot off the pedal :-)
I played with these and other images in black and white. They seem interesting enough that I will put them up in a separate post.
If you're in the Northern half enjoy the rest of your summer!
Cheers
