A friend on Pinterest posted several pictures of Pleiku in the Central Highlands where I spent a good deal of time... Between there and Ahn Ke where Hue Pham was from. There was a Special Forces base there and we were able to get supplies and transportation from both there and Ahn Ke where there was also a fairly good field hospital.
An aerial view taken from a hilltop just outside and above.
A couple of grunts enjoying the luxurious accommodations.
LZ just outside of camp.
Lovely downtown Pleiku... When I was there there was a street vendor selling strips of spiced meat on spits. It smelled delicious so I tried some (and it was). It turned out to be monkey!
A few guys in the family car out cruising for burgers and beer.
I spent a good deal of time in and around the Laotian & Cambodian borders (We weren't in Laos or Cambodia)... For anybody that thinks the nurses there had it any better than the rest of us- check this photo taken near the Cambodian border.
