#482 - Mountains with rice terraces and clouds.
Beautiful Hiveans a happy Wednesday evening to you all. Today let me share these lovely greens taken when we went to q hike somewhere in Mountain Province right before a storm hits the Cordillera region the next day just after we left. We stayed in this rural area of Sadanga for a night only because there's an impending typhoon coming in the afternoon of the next day. We arrived on a sunny morning, we rode a monster jeep from Bontoc which is the capital of this province and the travel time was about two hours to this remote village. We arrived past ten in the morning and then we were graciously welcomed by the host where we were staying for the night. My wife and I first ate lunch so we have energy for the trek. The host who is a young lady was also the one in charge of our meal, they didn't have any fancy meal up here so we just got ourselves some fried fish and rice as they don't have any meat yet available but will be there ready for the evening meal.
After a few minutes resting with a full stomach, we changed our attires which is suited for trekking and then we were received by a young man, I forgot the name, who will be our guide for the whole day. He walked us through the barangay hall where we had to register first and pay a small amount for registration and environmental fee which is required by every place we visited before. It's less than a $1 so it doesn't break the budget we have for this trek. Then we started the long walk and climb until we reached this area where I took these photos. It took us about another two and half hours to get here.
The day was sunny and was also hot. We had to drink lots of water to stay hydrated during the journey. The clouds are there beautifully formed in the blue skyline. The mountains which have rice terraces on them are breath taking. The people here really dedicated their time in putting up those farms so their families won't have to be hungry and they will have these source of rice anytime of the year without relying and going outside of their village.
Notice those houses on the mountain nearby? We passed at them when we climbed and this is another small village which is apart from where we were staying. There are only a few people here so they know each others well, most of them are relatives too. We will pass on these houses once again during our trek going back to the village we are staying which is on the farther mountain where there are smaller numbers of houses.
The crops on these terrace's have been recently harvested when we got here. But on the mountain where we are standing, the crops are also golden and are ready for harvest in the next few days. I wasn't sure if the crops were affected when the typhoon hits the next day.
One reason of our trek here is the water falls behind us. Our guide took this photo and he did well. That falls is a big one and we didn't took a bath because we didn't brought any extra attires.
Another shot of the waterfall just a bit exposed with the trees from the mountain.
We have here the wife posing and we can see a stream of water which came from the waterfalls that we saw above. The trail here is also laid with concrete not just for tourists but for the locals who live here, it gives a better and safer travel experience to all.
Even their animals are far better able to walk using the concrete pavements they placed on top of the soil. This carabao is one proof to that.😉
