#577 - Chinatown crawl Monday.
Happy first day of the week fellow Hiveans. Yesterday was a fiesta here and my mother-in-law cooked some pancit which is a traditional Filipino dish made from noodles, there are different kinds of pansit and the one prepared yesterday was Canton kind haha. Those who prepared a lot are those who have spare money, they have lots of foods and beers too but for us it was simple, just s pansit and some viands will do. Then in the afternoon, my wife and I went for a quick walk to the university nearby then went to a mall to buy some wireless mouse which I need for my laptop.
For our daily shots we have here first a photo of the arch in Ongpin street. They have a bigger arc at Jones bridge too. Binondo is interconnected by bridges and the only way to get here is by passing atleast one bridge.
This is the steps going to the Jones bridge. We walked around Binondo as we look for a place to eat, those cheaper than the other but servings are good.
Here we have a stall of a fruit vendor, there are different kinds of fruits they are selling and some of it I haven't seen and tasted before. I think those fruits are from China and they are not cheap.
There is also a stall that sells some tofu and other sea stuff like these ones. Not sure what they are but they are sea creatures if not mistaken.
Street signs showing the name of the streets and their direction, behind it is the famed Binondo church which is four century old church which serves the Chinese community back then and til now.
Then we ate at one of the famous Chinese dumplings restaurant here, every place in Ongpin has a long line of people waiting for their turn to be served. We ordered this shrimp dumplings and also pork something in their menu.
Here is the pork and seems fried to me.😅 We only order small amounts because we have to eat in other stores too so we reserve some space in the stomach 🤣.
Then we also went to this Chinese store which sells fresh Chinese lumpia or fresh spring rolls. It is cheap and there is also a bit of long queue but they serve the food fast because there is no dine in here only take aways.
We just ate the fresh spring rolls beside the store and they have this cool art on the wall. They also have a garbage bag beside so we easily cleaned up after eating the lumpia.
Follow me on my nature travels.
