#821 - Sagada Shots for Friday.
Happy weekend dearest Hiveans and also belated Happy fourth of July to our fellow Hiveans in the USA. Yesterday was also the day of our wedding anniversary with the lovely wife same as the independence day of USA. We just had a simple celebration at home to save. We bought a bucket of chicken at a McDonald's near our place and then I also went to a small restaurant near our place to buy pansit and lumpiang shanghai and then a noodle soup with sotanghon and meat ball. That's basically our dinner last night to commemorate our anniversary. My son and I were the first to eat because most of them were not home. My wife also went to the gym in the afternoon while I had to sleep because I didn't got that much sleep time. So after eating at five in the afternoon I went to sleep at six and woke up at nine. Most have already eaten by then but the wife just arrived as I was setting up my laptop for work. She ate with me, I ate a few of the lumpiang shanghai while she digged in before she started working.
And now for today shots which we took when we visited the Sagada town in Mountain Province last December before the year ended. One of the spots we visited first day of our arrival was this waterfalls called Bomod-ok Waterfalls which is a long way from the road. After renting a vehicle to drive us to the remote village where the falls is found, with a distance of probably two to three kilometers from the town proper. We were dropped off by the driver of the vehicle along the road where's a parking area and drop off point is available.
In that drop off point is where also a small station for the local tourism is found, it's a big tarp only which a small dwelling and in there are some officials who were collecting environmental fee for tourists who were going to the waterfalls. I can't recall the amount but it's cheap. That's where we were also assigned a tour guide who will walk us through on the journey going to the falls and back.
Our guide was a lady and she offered us a walking stick just to be on the safe side. The stick will somehow help in absorbing the gravity as we trek our way up and down the path. I was used to trekking but we all four got each sticks just to be on the safe side. Our guide is a local here and we passed by her remote village along on our way to the waterfalls.
Our guide tells us stories about sacred places that we passed by along the way and also the history of those places and that includes their village. The way of life they have there was simple and basic just like the old day. Their people are into farming and raising animals and also into tourism as guides. The people especially the men are shy type which is always the case here in the Cordillera region.
Our guide talks a lot about their place and also about life experience since she is older than us. She talks about their way of life while we were on the trek. She also helped us especially those who had difficulty stepping down on high footings. We had several stop overs too as we need to rest because one of our friends who joined was was a bit physically challenged.
When we arrived at the falls it was already midday but glad that there's only a few people so we were able to take as much photos as we wanted without waiting in line. We used my wife phone and the others phone too. It was cold, the water falling down feels like there's an ice boulder up there. But even though we still spent time swimming and ate the snacks we brought to fill our stomachs. The snacks were purchased along the way while we were trekking as there are several locals selling them to earn a living. We also shared the food with our guide.
Then after spending an hour here the numbers of tourists have started to increase so we decided to prepare to leave to give them a chance too. The numbers of arrivals have increased and most of them are young people like in their twenties. So we had to leave so they can also use the spot we were staying in the river just below the waterfalls. This is when we also asked our guide to take a photo of us four at the tarp showing the name of the falls. After this shot just a few minutes ago while we were on our way back to the road, we were met with more tourists descending down to go to the waterfalls. There's many of them right after midday. So we wonder how are they going to look like as crowded at the waterfalls. Definitely their pictures will be full of people in the background.
