I took one of my kids up to his mom's house in northern Washington yesterday. I spent the night but didn't want to spend all day on the road today, so I left for the nearly six hour drive at about 4:45am.
Well, the timing of the sunrise worked out for me, so I stopped at the Grand Coulee Dam (which I wrote about here) to get a photo sf the sunrise.
Heading north on the highway you come to the reservoir first, then snake down a windy road beside the damn and cross the dammed Columbia on a bridge below the damn (picture of that in the post above. Well, when you come around that last corner above the damn you usually catch a glimpse of it. Kind of looks like a superhero wearing a cape xD
That snap is from the parking lot above the dam. I've not stopped in this lot before and, like I said, the sun was just rising over the hills across the lake, so I said to myself, "self, I'm going to stop there today." And stop I did.
I also took Murphy to spend some time with the dogs at the kid's mom's house, which he loves.
In fact, when I got home I had a message from the kid with this snap...
Obviously loving his time up there already!
