Last October I attended the Oddities & Curiosities Expo at the Portland Convention Center and it was awesome. I didn't take many pictures but I did write about it in this post.
I'm on their email list and now that the 2025 expo is on tour all the 2024 merch was on sale. I got this badass scarf for half price!
I'm not really a scarf-wearing guy but for some reason this winter I have been really cold! Maybe it's because I lost about 20 pounds recently and am getting older?
As I said, the expo is back on tour across the US and even showing up in Toronto for a weekend in the summer 💀🍁💀
Here are the 2025 expo dates and places.
It's difficult for me to sum up this show so I'll take the explanation from the website:
The Oddities & Curiosities Expo is the largest internationally traveling oddities event showcasing hand selected vendors, artists and small businesses with all things weird. You'll find items such as: taxidermy, preserved specimens, original artwork, horror/Halloween inspired pieces, antiques, handcrafted oddities, creepy clothing, odd jewelry, animal skulls/bones, funeral collectibles & much more. We truly have something weird for everyone at our shows. All items you see at our shows are legal to own and sustainably sourced.
You know when they say this, "All items you see at our shows are legal to own...", it's GOT to be good, and it was!
I believe tipped me off to this show and I sure am grateful. I had an awesome time taking my kids and this year I plan on going again. However, I will need more time to browse the goods. I was there as dad taking my kids and their friends for my 17 year old's birthday, so I was not able to spend time really getting into the show. But I saw enough to know I need to go back and really dig into the smorgasbord of oddities.
I bring it up because I think this is something a majority of the #silvergoldstackers crew would enjoy. I mean, almost every booth had something with a skull on it!
My kid had a bunch of birthday money and got all kind of macabre and awesome things, but the taxidermized, road-kill raccoon head ferry doll is my favorite.
