Ripper wasted no time making his way along the river’s east shore and by-passing most of the market square. As the shops and yellow glowing lanterns became sparser, he followed a well-trodden pathway south, following the flow of the river Niagara.

[On the Silverton...main deck]
As the landing party of five piled their weapons in the portside longboat and got in position, Cockpit Officer Bleujay gave the order to launch…
“Lower away men!” She ordered as Seaman Citizensmith and Bagpuss worked the pulleys.
”I do hope for the best! Wishing you well!” She called down.
Looking up, Commander Kerrislravenhill gave a quick nod as the longboat hit the water and rocked its occupants slightly.
In another moment all were hard at the oars while Commander Galligan held a firm rudder south towards the dark shoreline…
As the lanterns and silhouette of the Frigate Silverton grew smaller and more distant, the eerie task of rowing backwards into the unknown wore on all their minds…
‘I sure feel like I’m out of the loop…I’ve been thinking of returning to the Azores…’ Warrant Officer Pocketechange thought to himself, ‘But the closer I get the more careful I become…’
‘I was almost lost once, I know what Lupega must be feeling…’ Able Seaman Trayan thought as he pulled hard on his oar.
Commander Kerrislravenhill finally broke the silence…”Th' team is almost ready Sairrr. Any further instructions?”
Galligan’s eyes were distant, like he was carrying a heavy weight in silent secrecy. Or was it the bone-biting fatigue that kept him so quiet? Kerrislravenhill wondered as she waited for his reply.
“Once ashore, light a short wick lantern and tie-off the boat.” He said calmly.
“Aye Sairrr. Ahh might need a few of these…" Kerrislravenhill replied holding out a silver throwing star.
Galligan nodded, but said nothing more, his mind was miles away...
‘Why was he so aloof’ Kerrisl wondered? ‘What was spoken to him in private by the captain?’
Finally the Bloody Raven shook the questions from her mind and focused on her rowing.
Th' Niagara river an' falls hav bin knoon ootwith o' North America since th' 17th century, when faither Loois Hennepin, a bludy French explorer, first witnessed them. He wrote aboot his travels in a new discovery o' a vest coontry in Americar (1698).
