I got a dionaea muscipula also known as a venus fly trap! I purchased it at a local farmers market from a farm that grows them!

Caring for my Venus Fly Trap

Luckily the woman who grows them gave me a packet with information on how to care for it! The dionaea muscipula loves full sunlight and moist soil. I will have to water it about everyday during the summer! During the winter it will die and I should only water it about once a month, but it will come back in the spring! I also have to use distilled water or rain water to water my venus fly trap.
Also if my plant doesn’t eat on its own I will have to catch flies and feed them myself to the plant. I haven’t seen it eat anything yet but one did close on its own! Usually they open back up in about a week after eating something. I am excited to keep learning more about my new plant!
