Your baby steps don't mean shit.
I say this with lots of love. Yes, baby steps will get you to your dream life, but you'll be too old to enjoy them. Do you want to enjoy your success at 80? Or would you rather take leaps and bounds and enjoy your success next year?
When you decide to become an entrepreneur, or to get fit, or to transform your life, you may start watching 'motivational porn' (Gary Vee, Tony Robbins, Jay Shetty, etc.) and then do nothing else.
What does this mean? It means you think you're doing something major by watching their content. And I suppose technically you are. You're being entertained. But consuming entertainment changes nothing for most people.
Some people go one step beyond this. They say "Ok, fine! I'm done sitting on my ass waiting for someone to save me. I'm starting this business!"
So they make a post on Facebook or IG. Then they twiddle their thumbs waiting for the likes and comments. Maybe they even get a few. The excitement kicks in. They get so excited because "omg 25 people liked it! Whoooooo!" Annnnnnd then they don't reply to the comments, and neglect to post again for a week or longer.
Can you imagine Beyonce getting excited about 25 likes?
At the time of writing, She has 3.7 Million likes on her latest IG post. Do you think she gives a shit when the first 25 pop up? Do you think she does a happy dance over 25? or even 2500? And she didn't 'stop the presses' or pat herself on the back much like this even when she was first starting out either.
Because while it's nice to get likes, she wasn't aiming small.
Early Beyonce got 25 likes because she was aiming for 250. Or 2500. She knew how to aim for what she was truly capable of. She knew aiming for 25 likes was chump change. She aimed higher, and if she fell short, accepted it gracefully, then did better the next day.
So set champion-sized goals and celebrate when you reach them. And only if you're really doing the work. Only if you've researched the champions in your field - that's called RISC but that's another post for another day.
What about Michael Jordan? Do you think he gets excited when he makes a single 3-point shot? Or do you think he gets excited when he wins a championship title? And even when he was just starting out, do you think as soon as he sunk his first 3-pointer, he stopped practice for the day and went out for ice cream? No, he aimed higher. Jordan's thought process was almost certainly more like: "If I can sink one 3, that's the reason for me to practice LONGER today and really nail it."
How about Lady Gaga? Do you think she celebrated when she got one download on her newest song? Or do you think she held off the back-patting until her album went Gold or Platinum?
The point is... stop throwing a parade for your baby-step accomplishments if you want to be a champion. If that's what you want then you have to have the attitude of champions and celebrate when you have a championship win. Not when you triumph over toddlers in your field, or when you squeeze by the bare minimum.
If you wanna keep celebrating those baby steps that's fine with me...
...I imagine you'll achieve your dreams one day. I guess.
Personally, I am sick-and-fucking-tired of waiting. I'm done taking baby steps. I will be taking leaps and bounds daily, to hit my goals and have my dreams faster, from this point onward.
I believe you want to have everything you've ever dreamed about, ASAP. So take the leap, you deserve to have all your dreams come true. Aim higher now, and pat yourself on the back when you actually surpass your status quo. We know you can do it. We believe in you.
