https://post.news/?r=Kss9C <-My "refer 5 friends" sign up link.
The Microblogging Wars: This one is better than that one...or is it?
Interesting strategy Post has to increase signups.
- You are on a waitlist (scarcity/velvet rope)
- Option to "cut the line" by inviting 5 friends (increase sign ups)
- Custom invite link (tracking)
This is AFTER you give them your Twitter and Linked in profile urls, fill out a bio which is the "do you qualify" strategy.
Very, very interesting. So, will it blend? Will the spaghetti thrown against the wall stick? Only time will tell. As I am the 83,861 person listed on the waitlist, what are the odds that the folks in front of me haven't gotten at least 5 other people to join?
If I do get at least 5 people to go through the process, will I automatically have an account? I can tell you I am NOT a fan of these types of "you must qualify to join" type of platforms. Seems elitist to me. Either you have an open platform or you don't.
Why?
So, why am I going through the process? I work with clients who turn to me to keep them informed about the ever changing world of social media. So, I'm usually creating accounts on all manor of platforms just so that I can speak from some experience about the various platforms. Are they worth their time? Is it a place they should be or can they avoid adding another platform they will have to keep up with? This is one of the many services I provide. It keeps me busy and as someone who is in constant R&D mode, this is part and parcel of my life. One things for sure, life within the online social media, podcasting, and video space is never boring.

Hat tip to for DMing me her referral link so she can "cut the line". I've been seeing friends on Twitter and LinkedIn talk about Post, but haven't taken the time to see what all the fuss is about. Now I have taken the first step. Let's see what happens.
