Hi Nick,
Hope interviews and health are going the right way. I had a bereavement so a little overwhelmed at present, hence my late reply. I have lots of support, though, so that's good.
I'm doing a module in Lifestyle Medicine at the University of Leicester. The fundamental idea is using lifestyle changes to prevent and manage long term conditions. I'm also a living guinea pig for these ideas and working with my GP practice to monitor changes 😁.
From the website:
Lifestyle Medicine: Prevention and Management of Type 2 Diabetes Module code: MD7528
An introduction to Lifestyle Medicine, including definitions, principles and comparison with other medical disciplines and practices. You will consider the global burden of type 2 diabetes and how lifestyle factors contribute. There will be a critical appraisal of current risk tools and screening programmes for pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes, and the role of Lifestyle Medicine in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes. You will also study the implementation of Lifestyle Medicine in real-world practice, including re-framing conventional clinical advice into lifestyle-focused approaches.
It's part of an MSc for managing diabetes but the principles can be applied more widely. There is also an interesting module about behaviour changes which I might look at later.
I've set up a new niche blog for this (nothing there yet). I wanted the University accreditation to ensure I had a good knowledge foundation. In addition to the health aspect, my idea is that we need niche blogs to attract more users to Hive - people who are happy to read posts (and vote), rather than being a creator.
All best wishes ❤️
