Well, I'll give it a MAYBE. It's an interesting concept. However, I'd prefer different examples and exmplanations.
OCD, for example, could be a RESULT of disorder, trying to find order out of chaos. Washing of the hands, for instance, might simply be a dissociation or deflection of some deeper need to sort out a loss of control elsewhere. Anorexia often has less to do with the function and meaning of food, than it does the function and meaning of control and self concept.
The jungle example, though. I'll buy that. I agree. I think we become more flexible and adaptable in chaos than in completely structure. However, there is a fine balance. and it must be maintained before it leans too far one way or the other, and this line might be different from one person to the next. Especially when things like PTSD and other mental illness is involved.
