you bring me
a bouquet of croissants
and I wonder
where you might lay
the crumbs
that fell from our kiss
every last piece
tells me the story
of how we got here
I bring you
nothing but crumbs
that might lead you deeper
astray
trepidation
and so much more
that contains the potential
of roads leading to my heart
we lay together
betwixt the crumbs
that led nowhere
yet we somehow ended up
where we left off
oh bring me
croissant bouquets
so that we can
get lost in the woods
like hansel and gretel
and follow the crumbs
ever deeper
astray
Postscriptum, or Take a Bite
brought me croissants rather than flowers. I preferred this move. I liked it so much, I wrote poetry about it. Jokes aside, we enjoyed a small picnic outside in the winter sun and I thought it might be fun to snap some photographs of her. The baker who baked these croissants did a pretty good job and I also could not resist the opportunity to take a photograph or two of them. They tasted as good as they looked!
Another week has passed and I am almost headed home again. It was a short visit, it will be a short visit back home, and then I am again back at . Long-distance relationships are all about traveling. It is a necessary evil.
In any case, I hope you liked the poem at least. It was just a fun little write-up after my croissant-carrying partner told me to write her a croissant poem. I was up for the challenge!
Happy reading, and I hope that you might also receive a bouquet of croissants!
The poem and musings in this post are my own, albeit inspired by the croissant and my partner. The photographs were taken with my trusty Nikon D300 and 50mm Nikkor lens that travels all these miles with me.
