Hate, a poison that spreads like fire,
Consuming all it comes across,
A feeling that we should all aspire,
To cast away and count as loss.
It starts as a small ember,
Igniting a flame within,
Burning hot and fierce and tender,
Fueling the darkness of sin.
It breeds a deep-seated anger,
A festering wound that won't heal,
A cancer that spreads ever stranger,
A toxin that's hard to repeal.
It twists and turns, contorting the mind,
Affecting the body and soul,
Leaving nothing but hatred behind,
As it takes its terrible toll.
But hate is not a force unchained,
It's not an unbreakable spell,
It can be overcome and restrained,
With love and hope and peace as well.
So let us choose to rise above,
The poison that hatred can be,
And instead choose to spread love,
For a better world for you and me.
