Good Morning world,
It’s me,
One of your sometimes
‘Not so Grateful’ tenants.
Although it may not seem so, most of us
Are truly happy to have this wonderful home in which to
Live.
I am sorry for my past (sadly, sometimes ongoing)
Participation in your degradation and deterioration.
It has been ingrained in us that you are ours to use up
Without concern or responsibility, but some of us
Are beginning to wake up to the truth, so there
May yet be time for us to make up before you
Kick us out of the house for good.
Please let us try to make amends, to repair the hurts
Of the past.
It will take a lot of time and
Sacrifices by us; we’ll have to change
So many things about how we live.
But,
It is not hopeless;
I won’t give up
Trying to make my brethren
See what is possible, and
What needs to be done.
Please don’t give up
On us quite yet.
