In Darkness the Path Starts from Nowhere
About the art-
This image began in Adobe Photoshop where I used cut and past techniques to make a collage of building facades. Once I was happy with the arrangement I began filtering and applying dark layers of color. In the final stages I imported the image to Adobe Illustrator where I began experimenting with drawn lines. I wanted the lines and lighter shapes to give a feeling of movement within the darkness.
About the poem-
The poem depicts two differing events juxtaposed in the night; one scene is focused on hatred and the other on love. A further hook to the poem is that each stanza reveals a passing of time, a counting, a series of moments lost in the dark.
Passion
Within the one, two, tic of a moment
the street lamp poses a figure in shadow
a silhouette drawn on brick wall
raising a knife, thrust once, twice,
then crossing the window
of foolish young lovers,
falling once, twice, into unending night.
