THE POEM SO FAR...
In the canals of Venice
A lion in a gondola ( )
Was seeking a viable premise
For taking up eating granola ( )
He would leave crumbs all about the gondola floor
Never once worrying about the next through the door ( )
A lion and his self-overcoming featβ
Forswearing violence and the eating of meat ( )
Out the door he prances!
Challenging the knight with all his lances ( )
He earned the reputation
Of finest lion in the nation! ( )
And then he climbed up the tower
And claimed the nation as his own with all of his power ( )
Roaring, just like lions do
scaring off every citizen, except for you ( )
To which he gazed upon, with awestruck eyes,
And gave unto you the first decree, a song by four beatles, let it be. ()

HEY! FELLOW DENIZENS OF STEEMLANDIA!
Let's
write
a
POEM TOGETHER!!!
Here's how it works:
I post the first 2 lines of a poem in the comments to this post.
You write the next two lines, submit them as a comment, and upvote.
The next person writes two more lines and adds them to the ever-growing poem by commenting and upvoting.
Wash, rinse, repeat!
RULES:
please precede all comments that are contributions to the poem with an asterisk * so that I and other contributors know that this is meant to be part of the poem
contributions may be anything you like, but profanity or deliberately offensive language will not be included
rhymes are optional
all contributors must upvote. Resteems are not required, but will help to spread the word and get more people playing!
contributions will be accepted until the curation period ends, at which point the poem is finished
When the poem is finished, I will post an inordinately dramatic reading, by me, in costume, possibly but not necessarily with the help of friends and/or puppets (you're welcome Steemit π )!
This will be followed by a (somewhat) more sober reading of the list of contributors, and the lines contributed by each. Attributions will also be given in the text accompanying the posted video, along with links (one per contributor) to each poet's favorite poetry post of their own.
I will edit contributions into the main body of this post as the poem grows. And grows. And GROOOOWWWWS!!!! Mwahahahahah π€£
See? POETRY can be FUN!!!
Let's begin. The first two lines are:
In the canals of Venice
A lion in a gondola...
