I woke up this morning with the black dog on my bed,
running in my head,
he wants me dead,
no matter what I may or may not have,
no matter who is here or not here to care,
no matter how much love is given,
There is no exception,
he knows no hope or redemption,
he howls and grieves,
his heart always bleeds,
he is the faithful black dog,
when you think he has ran away,
he sniffs you out on a sunny day,
he says death is the only release,
the only peace…
Until then the black dog is held prisoner
with me, staying loyal,
enduring the pain because others love him,
struggling with the numbness,
he just strolls along each day through the drudgery
Misery loves company
