art by Vennie
She always wore emotions in the eyes,
A little sorrow mixed with sunny skies and
When the rain came, she ran in the drops,
Hoping, praying the heartache would stop.
There were never chances to be free, not
In the way a spirit should dance in tree tops,
How the feet bury toes inside the cold sand,
Or tender moments taking soft cheeks to hand.
Solitude can wrap the body like a second skin,
Erase the memories, replace the broken brain.
At the end of twilight she watches the sun rise,
Quiet in the bird song and colorful butterflies.
She survived, and now, soaking in starlight,
She calls to the moon, where her soul hides.
Returning to the gradients of her DNA strands,
She is a moment in time, alive in the aftermath.
